GOP establishment favorite Sen. Marco Rubio skipped yet another crucial vote pushed by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to fund Planned Parenthood.
Every Democrat in the Senate voted with McConnell, while 20 Republicans, including presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, voted against funding baby body parts trafficker Planned Parenthood. On Monday, Rubio skipped the cloture vote–the only chance Republicans had to stop McConnell and his Democratic allies.
Once again, when the pro-life community desperately needed politicians like Rubio to help, Rubio was nowhere to be found. Then again, Rubio often disappears; he has the worst voting record in the Senate.
When Rubio does vote, however, it’s to help the GOP establishment push their pro-mass immigration, anti-middle class agenda. He and McConnell both backed the notorious Gang of Eight bill, which would have tripled green card issuances in only ten years, as 93 million Americans suffer from unemployment. As other Republicans demand McConnell to step down for completely failing to lead, Rubio hurriedly assured The Washington Post, “I’m not calling for anyone to resign.”
Rubio’s campaign declined to comment on his failure to back key pro-life initiatives he praises on the campaign trail.
