Omaha, Nebraska, police have arrested John Tompkins, 55, for allegedly telling two officers, “You are marked for death. I’m going to kill you because of what you do to black people. I’m going to find your wife and kids and kill those (expletive) too.”
The officers were responding to a domestic violence call when Tompkins reportedly made what is being described as terrorist threats against the police, according to KETV.
Tompkins was being taken to Douglas County Corrections for being a felon in possession of a weapon, when he said, “As soon as I get out, I’m going to do some New York (expletive), catch you (expletive) sitting in your cars, and come around the corner and blow your (expletive) brains out.”
A police report noted that an audio recording system had recorded Tompkins’ verbal threats.
The “New York” (expletive) that Tompkins mentioned may have been in reference to the gunman who ambushed and murdered two New York City police officers, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, in December as they sat in their marked squad car. Their killer had chronicled on social media his threats to kill cops and said their deaths were in retaliation for the police-involved shootings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
